so CIAA week just finished....(what does CIAA mean you ask it stands for Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association)
The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) is an athletic conference consisting of ten historically African-American institutions of higher education: Bowie State University, Elizabeth City State University, Fayetteville State University, Johnson C. Smith University, Livingstone College, St. Augustine's College, St. Paul's College, Shaw University, Virginia State University and Virginia Union University, all working together to set an overall standard of excellence.

Established in 1912, the CIAA is the nation's oldest black athletic conference, rich in history and heritage. The CIAA is entering its ninety-sixth year of athletic competition in which they will continue to reap success and recognition on the field and on the court

The Johnson C. Smith University men's basketball team seized their second consecutive Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association (CIAA) championships by defeating Virginia Union University 70-63 Saturday night at the Time Warner Cable Arena before an overflow crowd.
&
Johnson C. Smith (23-7 overall) completed a memorable evening for the University by becoming the first school to win the men's and women's championships in the same year since Norfolk State in 1996. The JCSU women beat Bowie State, 49-36 earlier in the evening.
