im in love...Brandy' Human [Dave's Review]

No less than four years after her last album Afrodisiac, Brandy makes a welcome comeback with her new album, Human. It's been turbulent times for the once child prodigy - Afrodisiac was her lowest selling album, [Which I didnt understand why I loved it] she broke off her contract with both Atlantic Records, and manager Benny Medina, and she also has to face a wrongful death lawsuit resulting from a car accident which she caused back in 2006. Despite all her troubles, she still managed to record and release Human, her first album with new label Epic.

Nevertheless she is back and making a omeback with this beauitful track....

I am now officially in love with Brandy again something like "Boy Is Mine" love I think that she did a wonderful job.

"Piano Man" is an interesting song built around an electronic Timbaland style beat reminiscent of Justin Timberlake's "My Love", with piano added in(obviously). Speaking of Timbaland, Human was orginally due for release over a month ago, but was delayed so that Brandy could record some music with Timbaland. However Timbaland doesn't appear on this album at all. Going back to the song, what makes this stand out, where Brandy sings 'Make me a song about heartbreak, I promise I can sing every word.....we can have the whole world singing tonight'. It's an interesting and refreshing take on the traditional love song.

"Long Distance" is the second single, and since it hasn't done well in the charts, few people have probably heard it. The song starts with a slow piano and pretty much plays out like the traditional ballad, with the bassline after the first chorus, then the dramatic strings after the bridge. I cant see why this hasn't performed well in the charts, since its beauitful I think everyone can really relate. "Camouflage" is slightly more pleasing - another Darkchild produced beat which leans more towards pop than r'n'b. It's a very radio friendly song, and I'm quite surprised that this hasn't been mooted as a possible single.

A Capella (Something's Missing)" is a rather clever song. Most of the backing is provided by Brandy herself, with some effects thrown in and a really quiet electric guitar. As the name of the song plays on the missing beat, the theme is also about how relationships can lose that spark, and never get it back.

i dig this cd on so many level's those of course are the stand out tracks but she delivered an RnB cd that I can love for years to come. Go head Brandy you o your "Never Say Never" days.

The video for Brandy's latest single 'Long Distance' finally made its long-awaited debut today. Having not initially gravitated toward the song, it seems to be all I'm blasting on my iPod these days. An absolutely amazing track. Definitely a grower. About the video, it really captures the essence of the song. I must say though, had that colour not broken in at the exact time it did, I'd be typing a very different review, as I admittedly was getting a lil bored. All in all a great song and an equally as good video.

Overall, the AMA’s were pretty damn boring. Beyonce’s performance looked pre-recorded and her dancers the [dark skinned] one looked like she messed up or maybe my television here in North Carolina is slow who knows....and Rihanna has that “shut up and show up” syndrome. Sort’ve like Cassie. I’m not saying she can’t sing, I’m just saying she’s mastered the art of looking fly..but her performances are never memorable like she is always dry to me remember when she performed "Take A Bow" at the 2008 BET awards see many of you might not remember cause it wasn't memorable nevertheless her effin boots were BADD. I’m not sure why Kanye is giving all of his awards away to Lil Wayne this year but to each is own… And Chris Brown won artist of the year over Coldplay????? So today is the day and for the few that know me on a more personal level know that I have had the cd for a week now and have fell in loved with it from the time I had it.

SASHA FIERCE is my alter ego," says Beyoncé, "and now she has a last name. I have someone else that takes over when it's time for me to work and when I'm on stage, this alter ego that I've created that kind of protects me and who I really am. That's why half the record, I AM…, is about who I am underneath all the makeup, underneath the lights, and underneath all the exciting star drama. And SASHA FIERCE is the fun, more sensual, more aggressive, more outspoken side and more glamorous side that comes out when I'm working and when I'm on the stage. The double album allows me to take more risks and really step out of myself, or shall I say, step more into myself, and reveal a side of me that people only know me see

Beyonce has devoted half of the tracks on this double-disc set to her feisty alter ego Sasha Fierce (think "Single Ladies & Get Me Bodied"). But, it's the classic, more timeless R&B songs on the "I Am" portion of the cd that seem like a much-welcomed stretch for the singer. Lead single "If I Were a Boy" is the first taste of Beyonce's new found love for powerful ballads, as she croons about reversing gender roles. On "Halo" she sings in a lower register than usual over big drums and an epic piano pattern and belts emotively ("I don't want a broken heart/And I don't want to play the broken-hearted girl") on the Babyface-penned "Broken-Hearted Girl." Songs like "Video Phone," with its repetitive, vibrating beat, and the thumping "Diva," [The New Female Anthem Think "A Milli] a collaboration with Sean Garrett, don't break new ground but more than provide the radio-ready dance tracks for which Beyonce is known for. She has grown on so many levels with this cd although it every different from her debut and sophomore effort. The new cd has complimented her new found swagg "Women hood" I give the cd 5 stars and much more.
